Spring – a great time of year for a Rock the Frock Shoot
Since moving back to the UK I have been looking forward to getting going with some more Rock the Frock shoots in the Lake District, and am excited to have a number of shoots coming up in the next few months. With the spring weather finally starting and the sun beginning to shine, a number of my brides from 2012 are ready to get out their wedding dresses again in preparation for celebrating their dress with a fun photoshoot.
The Lake District is renowned for its stunning scenery, fells and lakes and is full of so much potential for beautiful photography. Over the past year I have been scouting out locations for Rock the Frock shoots as we’ve walked, cycled and driven around Cumbria. So, watch this space for some exciting Rock the Frock photos to appear as the year goes on.
Duddon Valley and Cumbrian Coast Rock the Frock Shoot
To tempt you, here are a few shots from a Rock the Frock Shoot I did with Victoria and Alan, a great fun couple who celebrated their wedding at The Chequers Hotel in Dalton last year. We set off early morning to travel to the Duddon Valley in the Western Lake District to catch the best of the early light. Victoria and Alan had scouted out a great location, one of the old disused slate quarries which are scattered on the hillsides all around the Lake District. After a quick alfresco change into her wedding dress, Victoria soon got into the swing of things and relaxed into the whole experience as we explored the rocks, bracken and stunning views, looking for the perfect shot. We then headed down to Silecroft beach on the Cumbrian Coast, a very special location for Victoria. By then, the beautiful sun of the morning had left us, but Victoria was having so much fun, she wasn’t deterred as she ran up and down the beach, and eventually got into the sea for some epic final shots.
It’s not just the bride who gets wet!
It was great fun having Alan as part of the Rock the Frock experience too – he proved a great second assistant, and kept us all entertained. He also took some photos himself capturing the whole experience of a Rock the Frock shoot – and showing the lengths I will go to to get the perfect shot. Thanks Victoria and Alan for being such a pleasure to work with, we had a great time spending the day with you on our first Cumbrian Rock the Frock Shoot.
