What would you do for someone you love?
On a normal Saturday in June I would usually be photographing a bride and groom’s special day as they celebrate their wedding in the Lake District.
This weekend however I was documenting the story of a very different event. I had the great privilege of photographing an incredibly special charity event for The Lymphoma Association with one of my Brides from last year, Rebecca McIlgorm.
If you’ve been following the blog and my facebook page, you’ll have already seen some of her story. Rebecca’s sister, Rachael, has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and has lost all her hair with chemotherapy. To stand in solidarity with her sister at this tough time and to raise money for The Lymphoma Association, Rebecca decided she would go bald, and shave all her hair off. Once posted on facebook, there was no going back, and she soon had raised over £1000 in the first couple of days. By 1st June, the total was well over £5000 raised for the Lymphoma Association. So, Saturday was the big day and I joined Rebecca and her friends and family to witness and document this emotive event.
” So, much bravery, love & support between two sisters and fantastic support from those who know and love them too… inspirational ” – Clare Fletcher
Thanks to everyone who has been supporting Rebecca, Rachael and their family through this tough time and who have donated to The Lymphoma Association. If you would like to support, follow this link to Rebecca’s Just Giving Page
